The Dalerb Garden Chair is made in oak sourced in Perthshire.
The Dalerb Chair is hand-made in our workshop by highly skilled craftsmen. Our steam-bending allows us to shape wood whilst keeping the fibres intact for maximum strength in elegant curved components. Our traditional joint-work is beautiful and durable. The design allows water to drain quickly prolonging the life of the chair.
Scottish oak compliments all gardens and feels warm and smooth to touch. Oak is virtually maintenance-free, extremely hardwearing and can be left outside year round.
We recommend that the surface of the wood is left bare to weather to a silvery grey patina. Oak contains very high quantities of a natural chemical called tannin. Tannin is one reason that oak is so hardwearing and can be left outside as bare wood. (Other timbers need chemical surface finishes to slow down rot). Tannin is water soluble and in the first few weeks you may see some dark staining (like tea) on the surface of the wood, after rain. This disappears as it is washed away by rain and the wood weathers to silvery gey.
