Whisky Collector Cabinet
The design of the Whisky Collector’s Cabinet evolved from the idea of a special collection of bottles which would benefit by being revealed in layers. Collections by their nature tend to be precious and gathered over time and the way the collection is stored, explored and presented enhances appreciation. In this cabinet some bottles are easily accessible and evident, some are discoverable within the cabinet and others remain hidden in secret compartments. The door handles are turned laburnum.
Oak was selected for it’s resonance with whisky barrels and Angus was intimately involved with selection, felling and preparation of the oak tree from our own woodland. The oak has been complimented with lighter sycamore.
This cabinet was first presented at COLLECT : International Art Fair 2015 for contemporary craft at Saatchi Gallery London and a similar cabinet was sold at Design Shanghai for over £30,000.
The cabinet is sold with a set of specially commissioned hand cut crystal tumblers by Cumbria Crystal.
The Whisky Collector’s Cabinet is made to order with a limit of 10.
The making of the cabinet and the cabinet in action can be seen in our film Acorns to Art.
