Unstable Stool
Unstable Stool was our first product designed specifically to use local green (undried) wood and is featured in the SCOTTISH DESIGN GALLERY of V&A DUNDEE.
“Great to see native timber used in a fresh way and pushed beyond the obvious. The Unstable Stool is fantastic and a design of real clarity and integrity.”
Dylan Jones
Unstable Stool was nominated for TRADA Wood Awards Best Furniture Design in 2009 and we now make these in batches of five in local oak or ash. A single length of wood is steamed and bent round a former to create a strong and effective asymmetric rocker for an exceptionally comfortable ergonomic stool that allows you to rock and lean forwards whilst sitting at a table or desk – a movement that keeps the spine straight and engages core muscles. It has a comfortable hand shaped seat and it is ideal for kitchen, office or work-room. Unstable Stool has been used successfully by those with back problems.
