Royal Botanic Garden Society Bench
The Holding Bench was commissioned by the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society Scotland as part of the After the Storm project at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. A great deal of trees were blown down in the garden during Cyclone Andrea in 2012. This was followed by a period of change and renewal and wood was offered to Scottish furniture makers for a collection of furniture (see our Resilience Bench) The MS Society recognised a link with the devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis followed by a period of adjustment and in some cases hope. The words for the engraved text was provided by the MS Society Edinburgh. We hope the bench will be a place where those affected by MS can sit in the garden and children will play in through the loops and on the sides of the bench.
