Signal Seats
Commissioned by Sustrans ( the cycle network charity ) these 5 signal seats lie on the 'Pheonix Trail' cycle track between Thame, in Oxfordshire and Princess Risborough in Buckinghamshire. Reflecting the trails previous use as a railway line, and situated at convenient viewpoints, these articulated seats take their inspiration from the semaphore signals used for train control, and add an element of fun. Pivoting the seat to sit down, lowers the signal vane and shows that the seat is in use! Constructed from galvanised steel rails, oak seats and bright red aluminium signal vanes!
