Meeting
Meeting -

If you are interested in commissioning work, and have any specific requirements, vague ideas or would like to discuss a special project ... get in touch. Commissioning is essentially a two way process - an ongoing dialogue between designer and client. To instigate the commission, we talk, ideally in the proposed location of the piece. I present myself and my work, and you share your thoughts, requirements, sources of inspiration, dreams, budget - overall, a detailed discusssion of the intended project.

From the discussions, I will develop my thoughts and ideas culminating in the production of a 3D concept model or drawing of my proposal which will be presented to you, the client. By no means finalised at this stage, this model or drawing provides a talking point for further discussions.

Development -

Back to the drawing board, and the concept is developed, refined and detailed, to produce the definitive working drawing, from which the piece will be produced. Along with a final costing and proposed time scale, the drawing is presented to the client for agreement. At this stage a deposit of 50% of the project cost becomes due, and once paid the timber is ordered and the project entered into the schedule of works.

Production -

After selection of the timber (we use primarily indigenous hardwoods and never anything endangered) the piece(s) will be made by myself and/or furniture maker Steven Gray.. If required, the client can be updated on the progress of the commission with regular images by e-mail. There is an open invitation to visit the workshop to see the work in progress - please phone to arrange.

Delivery -

Once completed, the work will be delivered at a mutually convenient time. The balance of fees is due upon delivery. Depending on location, a delivery charge might be required.
